2014-02-18 Marble Falls first responders prepare for new software

February 17, 2014, 7:00 pm by Alexandria Randolph

Marble Falls’ first responders will soon see much needed software updates that will springboard emergency services into this century.

On Jan. 21, Marble Falls City Council approved the purchase of a new computer aided dispatch, mobile terminal and record management system from Spillman Technologies, Inc.

The total estimated cost for the system upgrade is about $500,000, said Marble Falls Police Chief Mark Whitacre, and the implementation of the software will take eight to 12 months and will go online between October and September. Officers are already beginning training for the new system.
